This item is for 5 pedals and 5 knee levers, look at the photos for pedal tunings.
Chords require 3 and 4 string grips or arpeggios.
For instance, play the highlighted strings all open (0 fret) with the indicated pedals to have an A major chord.  If the fret number is 1, use the bar on those highlighted strings on the 1st fret with any levers indicated.
The 'V' is for a vertical lever above the left knee.
So, if you do not have the V, there are still 12 configurations for every chord, some without the V.  The slide rule chart shows the location of every note on the neck for any key, good for improvisations.
